DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival - Ha Noi
On arrival at Noi Bai Airport, you are met and transferred to hotel. Ha Noi , Vietnam's capital, is a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some Asia's most striking colonial architecture. In the evening, there is welcome drinks followed by the tour briefing. O/N in Ha Noi.

Day 2: Ha Noi
Today we enjoy a full day city tour starting with Ho Chi Minh Complex, containing the mausoleum of the nation's founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidence Palace , Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts and the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the foundation of Hanoi. We then continue our trip to the Temple of Literature, well known as Vietnam’s first university and the History Museum which displays an excellent collection of artifacts illustrating the Vietnamese history. In the afternoon, we cycle out to visit the Bat Trang Pottery village (appro. 20 km) . A perfect way to round off the day is the performance of Ha Noi’s famous water. O/N in Ha Noi. (B)

Day 3: Ha Noi - Hoa Binh
The expedition begins as we get on our bike for riding ( appro. 60km) through many rice plantation and villages before arriving to some of the most famous pagodas in northern Vietnam. The Thay Pagoda has beautiful legend presenting the origin of the water puppet arts. Close to this buddhist sanctuary is the Tay Phuong Pagoda, home to 80 wooden statues of various shape and sizes. We then continue our trip west towards Hoa Binh, our today’s final destination. O/N in Hoa Binh.(B, D)

Day 4: Hoa Binh - Mai Chau
Heading out of Hoa Binh Town we continue cycling to Mai Chau ( appro. 50 km). The scenic route with some steep uphill and downhill cycling is a real challenge, but many villages dot the hillsides and the undulating terrain make for an interesting journey. We arrive in Mai Chau valley by late afternoon and enjoy a walk around Poom Coong and Lac Village of Thai people, which will enable us to understand a little more about their culture and lifestyle. Day 5: Mai Chau
The stunning mountainous backdrop and the simple lifestyle of the local people are a highlight of Mai Chau although the conditions are very basic. We spend a this day cycling ( appro. 30km) around the valley, seeing many villagers on their daily works such as logging, herding buffalo, tilling the field or weaving brocade. Today ends with a traditional music show followed with the local rice wine. This performance is held by the young White Thai minorities, reflecting the rich culture of this ethnic group. O/N in Mai Chau. (B,D)

Day 6: Mai Chau - Ninh Binh
Upon leaving Mai Chau, we embark on our vehicle for a few hour drive back to Man Duc. Here we set off on a half day cycling passing though many rustic villages towards Ninh Binh Town ( appro. 70km). The ancient capital of Hoa Lu with two remaining temples of the Dinh and Le dynasties, was founded in the late 10th century. Despite the turbulent history, these temples still preserve their original structure. After seeing this sight, we climb the 200 steps to the top of Ma Yen mount, where we are afforded by a fantastic view over the surrounding area. O/N in Ninh Binh. (B)

Day 7: Ninh Binh - Tam Coc - Phat Diem - Ninh Binh
The cycling expedition continues to Tam Coc, surnamed "Inland Halong Bay". A highlight of our visit to this landmark is an exciting boat trip on a river through the quiet and peaceful landscape of rice fields surrounded by limestone formations to the grottoes of Tam Coc. Afterwards we get on our bike ( appro. 40 km) to Phat Diem churches, one of the most exceptional pieces of religious architecture in Vietnam. This complex of stone and wood churches and ecclesiastical buildings dates to 1875. The architectural style is a remarkable mix of Chinese, Vietnamese and European traditions making use of local woods and decorated with lotus and bamboo. O/N in Ninh Binh. (B)

Day 8: Ninh Binh - Hai Phong
An early morning start to cycle ( appro. 90 km) through the rich farming land of the Red River Delta to Hai Phong. This a long day biking, but the spectacular countryside and many enjoyable stops will make the hardship all worthwhile. En route we visit the infamous Keo Pagoda in the tranquil setting of garden and lakes. Here is an opportunity to meet some monks and learn more about their living style. Upon leaving this sight we get on bike towards Hai Phong, the biggest northern port town of Vietnam. O/N in Hai Phong. (B)

Day 9: Hai Phong - Ha Long
The exciting journey ( appro. 60 km) will lead our group towards Ha Long Bay, truly one of Vietnam’s most scenic impressive sights. The pace is very relaxed as we cycle along the highway, stopping en route at pleasure to take some wonderful shootings or make fun with waving kids. Arriving in Halong by mid or late afternoon you check in a centrally located hotel and spend the remainder of today for a well earned rest on a beach or your own exploration of the town. O/N in Ha Long. ( B)

Day 10: Ha Long - Cat Ba
The following destination of our trip will be Cat Ba Island. Heading out of town we embark on a cruise giving us a great chance to relax and admire the picturesque landscape of Halong. Views of sailing junks navigating past over 3,000 limestone islands and out crops jutting out of the clear and emerald water of the bay are nothing short of spectacular. These limestone karst formations are littered with beaches, grottoes and beautiful caves. Along the way we will anchor for a leisurely swim in a secluded cove and an enjoyable visit to one of the many hidden grottoes beneath towering cliffs. After a huge seafood lunch on board we weave our way towards Cat Ba Island. O/N in Cat Ba. (B,L)

Day 11: Cat Ba Island - Hai Phong - Hanoi
Today we leave Cat Ba Town and ride our bicycle most of the way ( appro. 30 km) through the breathtaking scenery of to Dinh Vu. We cross the ferry and meet up with our vehicle and drive along the highway back to Hanoi. The rest of day will be free for your own exploration of the town and catching up on many shopping areas. A farewell dinner is organized at one of Hanoi's many fantastic eating spots is a perfect way to thanks the local team. O/N in Hanoi. (B,D)

Day 12: Ha Noi - Departure
There is a free time to further explore Ha Noi. The tour ends after your transfer to Noi Bai Airport for departure. (B)
