The north of Laos is a vast mountainous area, which is well known for the unspoiled villages, the mighty Mekong River, the remote jungles although conditions are still very basic. Coming by land from the Golden Triangle formed by Laos , Myanmar and Thailand visitors can spend few days on a boat cruising along the Mekong River, stopping at Hongsa Safari to experience the elephant ride. There are also many trekking oppertunities in Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng.
